Welcome to Fivoy

A guesthouse with a view, a story, and a soul.

Perched on Antananarivo’s highest hill, Fivoy gives you front-row seats to the city’s rooftops and a quick wander to the Queen’s Palace and more. We’re in the heart of one of the oldest neighbourhoods in town with history within walking distance (and the sunsets aren’t bad either).

The name comes from the Vezo and other coastal fishing communities, who’ve spent generations navigating seas with community, patience, and purpose. It’s about moving forward together. And while we’re not exactly seaside here in Madagascar’s landlocked capital, that spirit of community, resilience, and quiet strength is something we hold close.

Our house has its own story, too. Built in the style of France’s Basque Country—a region of sailors, naturally—it now lives on as a family-run guesthouse, blending Malagasy and French roots into something uniquely us.

Through Fivoy, we get to tell stories—of heritage, of movement, of connection. Whether it’s through a plate of home-cooked Malagasy food, a morning chat about where to find the best local craftwork, or a weekend escape into the countryside, we love curating experiences that show the soulful, welcoming, and sometimes surprising side of Madagascar. Sure, everyone comes to Madagascar for the lemurs and beaches (thank you David Attenborough)—but Antananarivo? It’s the soulful, slightly chaotic, and unexpectedly charming heart that will surprise you.

A singular location

La Haute Ville is the historical, most pedestrian part of Antananarivo. Although a majority of travel in the capital requires access to cars, this neighborhood allows for walkable sightseeing of some of the city’s most cultural sites: the Rova (Queen’s Palace), Museum of Photography, or Jean Laborde’s House.
